Scooter trip - Day 2 - JiaoXi to He Huan Shan

We woke up to a great sunny day. Two cats had made a home out of our scooter.

On with the helmets. Adjust the backpacks and then back on the road.

We started up a valley. Drove along a riverbank.
There were farmers all along the wide riverbed. However the river itself was just a small one.
What they were preparing to grow... I have no idea.

We needed to stop more than once and when we did my father set out to find "things" It could be a rock as well as a huge part of bamboo. Most of it ended up in his backpack.

Higher and higher up we drove and as we did nature changed character.

We made some friends. The conversation was pretty much only in Chinese.

Back on the scooter

Around 2pm we found a restaurant up in the mountains. I had squid and my dad had some kind of fish that he had eaten before. The fish had really sharp teeth and after eating the fish my dad saved the teeth.
They ended up in his backpack.

We made some friends.

The food was good. The people nice and we were good to go.

After we had driven about 40 min we came to a place where the road had been washed away in a mudslide.

We were not the only ones who had to wait for a while before they opened the road to us.
(there was a one way lane opened so we had to wait for our turn)

We ran into a bunch of Harley´s
Kind of looks like our ride... Doesn't it.

Soon after this it turned darker. No more photos.
The road kept going upwards. The scooter started to get really weak due to lack of oxygen. We really didn't know how high up we were. All of a sudden we pass a sign saying that we were at 3100 meters above sea level.
I had booked a room at a hotel about 2 hours down the road... or should I say up... but we really didn't want to drive much farther on these roads now when it was darker.

Then all of a sudden we get to a ski lodge. I asked them if there were any rooms left. There was and we were really fast at moving into one of them. The one we got had a balcony towards the valley. The view was astonishing.

We had dinner. Coffee. A shower.
Then we took a walk to look at the stars. They were beautiful.
Beautiful or not. It was 5 degrees and I was very tired.
And there was another day coming up just around the corner.

Until next time

Stay awake.
Love Ove.
