The west coast.

Hi.

After Jason and I said good bye to my mother in Trollhättan, we went to the Swedish west coast. I wanted to swim in salt water. Jason didn't share my enthusiasm about swimming in the "freezing cold water" (19 degrees Celsius), so I had to have fun all by myself. Jason did however volunteer to take some photos.

This is me diving.

And then I tried some other stuff.

Jason did make it down to the water in the end, but not farther out than this.
Jason and I looked for crabs and shrimps under the rocks. I don't know how long time we did this, but we had a good time. Then Jason found a sea star... He wanted to take it home, but I made him put it back. I do think he only joked though.... maybe...

Trollhättan

One destination that I wouldn't have taken Jason to if it hadn't been for the fact that my
mother lives there is Trollhättan. In my experience Trollhättan is a boring is a boring place, it turned out that I was wrong... as I have been many times before.

This was the first time Jason got to meet my mother. We went to her place and after some "fika" I asked my mother if there was any nice places we could visit, and if she could take us there.

First she took us to "Kopparklinten". A high cliff overlooking the city.
In Sweden it is said that in olden days there was something that was called "Ätterstupa". This was a place with a high cliff where people took their old ones and while they were looking at the nice view they were pushed over the edge. This was a way of getting rid of an extra mouth to feed.
Whether or not this was ever practised I don't know.... But that where my mother took us.
She didn't push us over the edge though.

In the river below my cousin often catch salmon... or so he says :)

For the ones who are used to following my blog, you know I like to take photos of the small, insignificant things as well. Well this time I found a beautiful snail.

Here is my mother and Jason walking next to the locks of Trollhättan.

I think he is so handsome...

Apples.

We passed this road into nowhere.

And then a Jason in Trollhättan collage.

Tisselskog and Håverud - Sweden

One day Jason and I went for a little road trip close to home. First we visited Tisselskog where they have 3000 years old Rock Carvings. After that we went to the only place in the world where they have a car bridge, a train bridge and a boat bridge at the same place.

Tisselskog is only about 30 minutes away from my home town, so this is what the country side looks like where I live.

We had to walk a little, but just a little.
Its nicely located by a lake, but then I guess most rock carvings are, at least in Sweden.

Here Jason is walking next to the rock with the most carvings on it.

Here are some of the carvings.

Looking out across the lake.

The cloudy sky.

From Tisselskog to Håverud there is a very twisty turny road and I always find it fun to drive it.

You can See the train and the car bridges in the background.

Jason out walking on the boat bridge.

Here we see the boat bridge.

They had a museum that from the outside looked very small, but it was really big. It was like walking into the tent of Harry Potter.

We had a great time.

Kayak - part 2

So there we were in the forest on the other side of the lake. Jason wanted to find a log
to sit on. As he circled around the camp to find something  suitable he stumbled across the golden mushroom. The chanterelle is amazing and Jason was very excited about finding them. He called for me to check if it was the mushroom I had been talking about, and it was. We got enough for one sandwich each.

Jason didnt find a log to sit on, but I had already found something big enough for both of us.

Here the mushrooms are boiled in water. Later they were to fry in soft cheese... yeah I know, but we didn't have butter.

After chanterelle and hot dogs, we had corn on the cob.

Before it was time to go to bed in the cosiness of the tent, I persuaded Jason to take a swim in the lake. It was to become his first swim ever in a lake. And.... well he did get into the water, but he didn't like the fact that the water was as black as the night so that he couldn't see what was in it. But swim he did.

After a night in the wild we set back over the water the next day, and this time without a rope between the two kayaks.

Natural born Kayaker.

We went to visit Mr Beaver.

Jason

From my point of view.

We made it home and I was happy to hear that Jason liked the outdoors so this wasn't the only time we slept in a tent.

Jason´s first encounter with outdoors life.

For me outdoors activities are a very important part of my life. For Jason this hasn't been the case. He told me once that he wants me to introduce it to him a little bit at the time.

This is his first real encounter with Ove In the Wild.

I gave Jason two options. Hiking to a cabin in the woods or to kayak over a lake and there sleep in a tent. Jason (to my surprise) chose the tent.

The Kayaks we had were inflatable ones and thus not that big or impressive. This didn't bother Jason though. It was windy, there was rain in the air and it was Jason's first time to kayak. It ended up with me tying a rope between his and my kayak, and me being the one who did all the paddling.

This is right after we made it across the lake.

Here you can see how wide the lake was.

Here are the kayaks we used.

Jason

Not far away from where we put up our tent there are a pack of wolves. Isn't that great :)

Still... being the Taiwanese guy he is... the phone with all its apps followed us into the wild.

A group of loons.

Breakfast. It turns out he likes Swedish KAVIAR.

This is the camp we set up. We made the fireplace. We based it on a big slab of flat rock I found a little bit away. The bench was made from a tree the beavers cut down.

To be continued...

Stay awake.

Jason´s in Sweden

After having spent 2,5 months away from Jason, I was very excited to pick him up at the airport. I arrived early and that was lucky because his plane was like 30 min early.

Going back to Åmål we took a different route which gave Jason his first ever ferry ride.

Well within Swedish boarders Jason took over the wheels.

A very happy couple.

I will tell you about the 3 weeks we had in Sweden before we went back to Taiwan, but I will tell it a little bit at the time. This because I am back at studying Chinese and most of my time is spent in the books.

Stay awake.

Back in Taiwan

Hi. I am back in Taiwan with my boyfriend. We have a place next to an airport. Yes, we can hear every single plane that takes off or lands.
It's a tiny and noisy place but it's our place.
I have so many things to share with you from this summer, I will just have to edit the photos first. I will show them all to you in time.

GREETINGS FROM A NICE AND WARM TAIPEI, TAIWAN.
