Completing Kid Icarus

Hi.

Sometimes it takes decades to complete something.

These things can be things of importance or things that are utterly meaningless.

Still... No matter how meaningless they might seem... they might bring great feelings of contentment.

Like me completing the NES game Kid Icarus.  I started playing it when I was around 10. Never did complete it..
Then 30 years passed...

Now I have..

Wish you the greatest of days. And may you complete something today that you haven't gotten around to completing before.

Much love.
Hanuman.

Hello everyone. I guess there is noone who reads this anymore. I have been gone from this place for quite some time. (Update: I was wrong. More than 11.000 views which of 5 just the last hour. Sometimes its great to be wrong.)

Much has happened since I last wrote anything on here. The biggest thing is that I moved back to Sweden. AND that my boyfriend came with me. He is now my husband.

Life is good to us. We enjoy life . I hope you do too.

With Love, Ove "Hanuman" Holmström.

Scooter Trip - Day 7 - Green Island to Hualien

So came the day when we had to turn back towards Taipei. That didn't mean that this was the end of the trip. We were still a very long way from home and we would not take the same road that we took going south.

We caught the early ferry and contrary to how it was on the way out with a bunch of seasick main land Chinese people throwing up all over the place  this time it was a pleasant boat ride without foul odours.

There are 2 different roads between Hualien and Taitung. We took the ocean road down and so we decided to take a road that went through a valley between 2 mountains.
After some time on the road again we came to this little sleepy town. We stopped here for some food.

I wasn't to happy about the food but my dad liked it allot. Its funny that he did because before he came to Taiwan he said that he never NEVER would eat anything else than western food. At this place we had something called lunch box. You pick what you want. Sometimes there's allot to choose between and sometimes .. like this time... there's not as much to choose between.

Well here is the happy customer.

With food in our stomachs we went back onto the road.

We passed allot of grave sites. They are quite different form how we do it in the west. More colorful and usually its a family tomb.

Here we had passed 700 km.

Well.... this is me.

After some time we made it to Hualien and there my dad and I went to a restaurant. At the restaurant they had a piano player who also did some singing.... Maybe he should have stayed with the piano...
Still... we had a good time and after finishing our food we sat an talked for a while. We applauded every song and the piano player smiled back at us.

On the way back to the hotel dad bought yet another set of gifts for his grand children back home in Sweden.

To be continued...

Now to something totally different.

JASON HAS RECEIVED A VISA TO LIVE AND WORK IN SWEDEN.
YEAHHHHH.

Stay awake.

Scooter trip - Day 6 - Green Island

This map shows the trip so far.

After I had been scuba diving I met up with my father again. He was at the scuba center along with this dog.

After a really nice dinner of mackerel and stuff we set for some fishing.

Dad with the fishing rods in his hand.

It wasn't the best of fishing spots but it was nice.

Dad and I practiced catch and release. This means that after taking this photo we let the fish back into the water.
Dad was really excited about the color of this fish.

At one point this helicopter passed over our heads.

And here is a dove.

I did some climbing.

While climbing I came across this crab. Its way more dead than it looks.

On our way back to the hotel we passed this cave. It doesn't look like much but it was really deep. Thanks to the flashlight on my mobile phone I could check it out. At one time I turned out the light and experienced total darkness. That was quite nice.

At the entrance we found a bunch of stuff. Like this thing.

Back at "town" dad found a new friend.

There was a tsunami rescue road that we went up with our scooter. From was up you could see this lighthouse. We also saw a deer.

We also went down to it.

Dad found some flowers.

And a...... I have no idea what this was.

It was yet another great day.

More is coming when I have had the time to edit some more photos. At the moment I am setting up my life in Sweden and so I don't spend that much time with my computer.

Check this site out.

Stay awake.

Scooter trip - day 6 - special edition - Scuba Diving

Today I will take you with me down under the surface. The place is Green Island, and I had an amazing time.

My Dive Master gave me a plastic bottle filled with bread. When I pushed the bottle, water squirted out of it and so did some bread. The result was hundreds of fish wanting to be close to me. The experience can not be described. Must be experienced.
After that we went swimming. The corals had so many colors.

Here is a Sea cucumber.

More corals.

And some anemones.

Here I got my eyes on a Sea Snake.

Finding Nemo.

I like to play around with the weightlessness.

I came across a sunken city.

How about them colors?

One thing that is just amazing to look at, is the surface... From Below.

You should try diving sometime if you haven't done it before.

The person in the middle in the front was my dive master. An amazing dive master. In fact, I think he was the best one I have ever had.
He was the one who took all the photos.

And As Always... My dad made new friends.

Bye Bye for now.

Stay awake.

Love Ove

Scooter Trip - Day 5 - Taitung to Green Island.

We got up early to make sure that we got on board the first boat out to Green Island.
We were at the harbor well ahead of time.

I even had time to pretend to meditate.
(I do meditate from time to time)

On board the boat we soon hear the familiar sound of people throwing up. People were throwing up everywhere. (It wasn't that bad weather)
We made it to the island and soon we had gotten our scooter off the boat. Found a hotel. Found a restaurant.
And the restaurant is the place this photo was taken.

People go to Green Island because of the diving and snorkeling. It just turned out that my father never had snorkeled before and it was my privilege to get him under the waves for the first time.

He got himself ready for the adventure.

When we got under the surface there was a myriad of fish. And there was a myriad of colors. My father saw both a Murray eel and a Scorpion fish. He was so happy about that. I found a diving mask on the bottom. To get it I had to dive down a hole. My father didn't like that I did that though.

After the snorkeling we decided to go swim in some hot springs.
Green Island have one of the 3 only places in the world where there are hot springs IN the ocean.
We went there and the place in the ocean was closed for the season. They did however have pools with hot spring water in it.
It was good enough.

I think it was a tired old man who came back to the hotel room that evening.
And he wasn't the only one who was tired either.

To be continued....

Food for thought.

Stay awake.
